A Simpleton Could See

Yesterday while I was at work, we watched the funeral procession of one of the police officers that was killed in the shootings at the city hall last week. It went on for about a half an hour, completely blocking one of the busiest streets in St. Louis. There were police cars from all over, some from 90 miles away. We all sat in silence until it was over. Afterwards we talked about how great the family must feel to have this many people gather to remember a loved one. Nothing takes the pain away, but I'm sure the support of the entire St. Louis area helped just a little.

Then, today, while I was at the video store some asshat (is that one word, or two?) was loudly bitching the entire time I was there to the clerk about how much of an inconvenience it was to have to wait in traffic for some funeral procession. Did you know that the hour he had to wait took up his entire lunch break? Poor guy. The pain of losing your husband or father must pale in comparison to this fat assed bastard not getting to eat a cheeseburger. Asshole. He even mentioned that it was the police officer's funeral, so he wasn't unaware of the situation. What the fuck is wrong with people?

They believe they are the center of the universe, and any inconvenience to them personally is completely unacceptable.

If you are talking about a person, "asshat" is one word. If you are talking about an ass-shaped hat that someone is wearing, it is two words.

People suck. I wish I had been there, I would have told him what I think of him.

I don't know - to be honest, blocking a busy area like that for an hour would be pretty frustrating if someone was trying to work, had deadlines, etc. I understand that it was a funeral, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a huge disruption.

I'm of two minds on this one.

Avitable: I truly do get it if you're running late for a meeting or something, but this guy was pissed they were blocking McDonalds

Most people can only see beyond themselves.

Some people use moments like that to remind them to call their husbands and say I love you.

And some people need cheeseburgers, I guess.

What a prick. Sorry McDonald's was blocked, but perhaps if this guy watched the news he would have known that the roads were closed for a funeral.

WTF!?!? Delay!
Some officer's funeral.
Damn! McDonald's blocked!

I'm the only one!
Me! Look at me! The center!
I'm more important!

Forget the Karma;
I'll pay it forward later.
I want my food now.
